‘The Collector’s Past’. I grew up in the Victorian country side surrounded by horses. They were my freedom, confidence, adrenaline rush, and joy. I was diagnosed with Chronic illness about 20 years ago, which took a lot of meaningful and important things away from me including my capacity to care for and ride horses. I avoid reality as much as possible especially when I am home sick and missing my horses. Living in the present is often difficult for me and I find the nostalgia of the past much more appealing than the reality of the future. ‘The Collector’s Past’ represents a moment in time where I was independent, healthy, happy and confident. My horse carries me and pulling a cart of beautiful memories in it. Taking these with me is the only way I can face my future.
