A discounted jacket from the op shop due to a broken zipper inspired me. I found more items which were headed for the bin and made a chain from drink can tabs. Anything else I used was from home. The finished product offers challenging social commentary about inequality and the hands of capitalist powers and colonialism. It brings attention to the power that big business hold and their lack of accountability in their actions as they impact the environment. Corporations shift responsibility to individuals, calling us to ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’. Particularly harmful when large corporations are involved in catastrophic environmental and human exploitation.
