If we go soft on plastics the consequences are Black & White

Artist: George Hendry

This abstract weaving is crafted from a series of soft plastics from our soft plastics bin at home. We store up our soft plastics and deposit them back at the store for recycling. The black and whites come mostly from parcel deliveries. My Aunty taught me to weave and my brother is an enviromaniac, so I put 2 and 2 together and wove these soft plastics in response to this year’s Waste to Art theme. I find weaving fun, relaxing and calming and I enjoy how it all comes together on the loom. I wanted to create a more formal piece than my colourful soft plastic weaving that I created for last year’s waste to art competition. Which thrilled me when I saw it used to advertise this year’s event.
